Portugal is a very strange country when it comes to credit cards.
There are numerous places where they only take the Portuguese credit card to the exclusion of all others.
Of course it may be that some places prefer you to pay cash..
You can always ask for the complaints book which by law they have to produce.0 -
The card was declined three times at different locations - that suggests an issue that needs to be investigated.0

OH's card was declined st Philadelphia airport last Saturday. However, I think the problem was twofold-
they have only just introduced chip and pin
the Hispanic accent of the assistant was unintelligible
