Stolen driving licence
Not sure where to post this so here it is .( If it would be better somewhere else do shout up)
Our daughter (and a friend had same stolen) had her bank card and driving licence stolen from her bag whilst at a nightclub last weekend.
Next morning the card was reported to the bank and they confirmed no transactions had occurred since it was stolen. The Licence theft was reported to the police and crime number obtained and she has just received a replacement.
So far then nothing very troublesome or traumatic, just annoying.
The question is what are the likely reasons for the thefts and what will they be used for. What should she look out for and how does she look out for these possible activities? ID theft? how will that manifest itself? False credit?
Just want to know what and how to look out for things
Thanks

The main reason for the theft of the Drivers Licence is probably to attempt ID fraud or hiring a car/using to try and get a car/show police if stopped.
However if it's been properly reported as stolen to the police and DVLA it should be cancelled and flagged so any checks should show it as stolen.
Nothing to worry about too much as the authorities have been properly informed, the only thing I might suggest getting your daughter and her friend to keep an eye on their credit reference files in case of attempted fraud.0 -
They were probably stolen because in the low light of a nightclub it looks just like a credit card. It was probably a quick grab, without looking, of anything that seemed to be credit card like.0

Thanks both - a little more reassured now. It didn't help that a second member of the group had the exact same items stolen that night but I guess that's just what most of them had - bank card for payment and driving licence for ID. Left her iphone 7 and car/house keys though ; should be thankful for small mercies I suppose.0

A word maybe needed about leaving her bag unattended.0
