What is the FOS got it wrong?

Hi,
I made a claim for PPI in 2016, and was refused by the Halifax- they said I was aware of the fact that I had taken it out. However, I was adamant I was not, and as I had cancelled my PPI for my mortgage, why would I need it for a low value credit card. I know I did not need this!
Took it to the FOS and they then sided with the Halifax, until the review of the ruling in 2017, then again found in favour of the bank.

I had thought it was dead cause, until the news in the press about the FOS and being under-resourced...

Then yesterday, Halifax said they were going to offer me a good-will gesture of £2.90!!!

Can I resubmit my application, was the FOS wrong?

Thanks
Sam

Your not making a claim your making a complaint. A claim on PPI would be if you were out of work and wanted to use the insurance to pay the credit card.

The PPI would have been listed on your credit card statement every month you paid it so it's not exactly hidden.

The FOS are not under-resourced. Sure, there is a lot of work but it doesnt really change anything as the PPI complaints are pretty easy judgement calls to make. The media articles were based on Panorama. The programme itself had a lot of flaws and assumptions.

That is probably a plevin refund.

No service is perfect but statistically, the error rate is very low and the FOS is likely to be right. Plus, do remember that there are three levels to be rejected from.

    1 - The firm, 2 - the adjudicator 3 - the ombudsman.

So, it would need all three to be wrong.
