HELP!! Dodgy Window Firm Contract!

Options
Hi,

I'm really desperate for some advice. We were asked by doorstep salesman if we wanted a free quote for windows, who then pressured us into signing a contract for 3 windows for £1350 to be paid in full in one go!
We've had some financial difficulties since then, and can't afford to proceed with the business, but how legally binding is it? No deposit was taken, and no final installation date set apart from a vague month.
Saying that we were outside the cancellation period of 14 days- but surely its not unreasonable to cancel if nothing has been done or exchanged?! Please help!

Have they started to make the windows? If so you must expected to pay for this even if you dont have them fitted.
  • We've had no updates from them at all. Only heard from them because we asked to cancel. Tried to post formally twice and it bounced back so had to email! I don't even know if they're bespoke, that wasn't described to us.

Nobody except you can see your contract. Usually, on the back of the order are the terms and conditions you and the company agreed to. Among those there may be a paragraph about cancellation.

I know on my last double glazing contract, the cancellation cost was 30% of the total.

It's irrelevant whether they have made anything. Whatever you have signed is a legal document, so unless there is an unfair clause,or you can prove undue pressure, you must honour the terms of the contract.
