Could you really earn £500 by encouraging people to switch current account? NatWest launches its first ever refer-a-friend scheme (for selected number of customers)

Yes you can. Seems you need to be emailed directly by NatWest for this to be an option though. Wonder if they have a blacklist of all MSE switching tarts??

They said they emailed 300,000 - wonder what percentage this is of their customers?

Article says they may roll it out to all current account customers. No idea when.

I have not had the email yet.

Not sure how many accounts they have, but apparently they lost £10k net in april-June last year. Looks like they are trying to stem the losses.

I wouldn't encourage a friend to switch to Natwest. An enemy, maybe.

Not even if they were with HSBC and had received a safeguarding letter?

If you respond to their safeguarding letter and provide what is needed to keep your account, the fuss goes away.

Mind you I haven’t had any problems with NatWest either so it depends who offers the best products.

Presumably it doesn't matter if you've previously held an account and been referred? Only seems to mention being able to benefit from a referral once...
