Fix a drafty UPVC door

Options
Hello,

My back/front UPVC doors are a bit drafty - e.g.don't fit perfectly round the edges to seal the doors. I've tried replacing the rubber gaskets but they're still drafty so the 'position' of the doors somehow need altering.

Anyway, I'd rather get them fixed rather than replaced if possible (£££!!!) so I'm going to post a job on Mybuilder about getting them fixed... but I don't really know which trade to put the job under/ what to ask for. I don't want to walk straight into a 'you need a new door mate' type tradesman (unless I really do!)

Any suggestions?

TY,

Zither

You can try but many proper windows dow fitters won't be interested in small jobs like gasket repair. Have a look on local papers for "window doctor" and they do these kind of smallish jobs.. Some window fitter companies may not so the job but my local one put me in touch with a "window Doctor" so try to see if they have any recommendations. Good luck with ur search.

Thank v much - just so I know what I’m asking for - is it the rubber gaskets that need repairing (I replaced these last year) or is it the door position or something that needs adjusting slightly? Just don’t wanna get ripped off due to lack of knowledge :)
  • If the rubber seals are fitted correctly, sounds like adjustment is needed.

Hinges and latch keep plates are normally easy to adjust, you may find some videos on youtube, if your not sure how.
