Add money to Paypal

Hi.
Sorry for another thread...
I withdrew money from Paypal, but now need it for a refund. I don't think I can refund without the funds. Only way to add funds seems to be to do a bank transfer. However, when I go to my bank it keeps coming up with "We're sorry. We seem to be experiencing some technical problems." It then signs me out!
Is the bank transfer the only option or is there another way to get funds into Paypal?
Thanks.

If your buyer needs a refund, you can pay using the refund transaction and Paypal should take funds from your balance or card/bank automatically if one is linked. Don't add funds just to top up the balance.0

Thanks. Googling it, there are many posts about not being able to refund without funds.
Paypal mentions taking it from a linked account while also telling me there's an error and funds are needed. Thought it would be easier to just add the funds so they were there rather than trying to refund with no balance and getting more errors or possibly risk it going into negative while still wanting funds if it didn't just take it from the linked account.
If it will just take it from a linked account that's fine

It is possible to start a refund even without funds but be warned as the refund will not show as going back to the buyer until funds have been drawn from a funding source and gone through your PayPal account. My last one, where a case was opened, took 8 days and I was borderline having the case against me closed and a defect as the system picked up on the fact that the refund actually hadn't got back to the buyer.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'm not worried about that. Case closed days ago in my favour as they ignored it. They can't open another. Buyer hasn't contacted me at all and has ignored all communication so they seem happy to wait. As long as the refund will go through that way it's fine.
If there's no other way to add money it looks like my only option anyway.0 -
It's not gone through

Thought it was going through, clicked continue and then got a message saying "Your refund must not exceed your available balance. If you have funds in another currency balance, you may want to consider transferring funds from other currency balances."
Options are just edit or cancel so had to click cancel.
I can't refund, nor can I add funds.0 -
Is your balance zero or a small amount insufficient for the refund?
I've had an issue before when I'd left a few pence in the account and Paypal would allow me to make a refund. If the balance is zero as soolin says a refund should happen but takes several days.0 -
As its not linked to the case then you will need to add funds to your account before the refund can be made unfortunately.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Got less than 50p in funds (which is nowhere near enough). Paypal won't allow me to refund. As its not linked to the case then you will need to add funds to your account before the refund can be made unfortunately.
Looks like the buyer isn't getting a refund for a little while then. Need the bank to sort the issue.0 -
Popped into the bank and they did the transfer, although they were a bit confused about why there was an error.
I have now refunded them.
Thanks for replying
