Overstayed in G24/Toys R Us Car Park in Dec 2017

Hi,

Back in December I stayed in a Toys R Us car park by ~12 minutes after the store closed due to having to change our 5 month old, spent ~£15 in the store prior to close and couldn't find thier baby change so had to change him in the car.

NTK arrived about a month ago, still got it somewhere and after a bit of googling it appeared these were safe to ignore. Have now had 2 letters from DRP advising charge has increased and am assuming next contact will be from a solicitor.

With the retailer now in Administratiomand at this late stage, what would my best course of action be?

I've read the newbies thread but there is so much info there I can't find exactly what I need.

To summarise:
- Overstayed in a G24 car park (Wife was driver, I'm keeper, letters addressed to me)
- Received NTK letter but didn't think to go to retailer to appeal and ignored letter.
- 1st letter from DRP - Ignored
- Retailer now in Administration
- 2nd letter from DRP - Called to pay but hung up
thinking to check here again
- Checked newbie thread (need.com forum /showthread.php?t=4816822 &highlight=newbie+faq+pcn[/url]) but couldn't find exactly what to do
- This post

Any help?

Edit your post NOW to remove information about who did what. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper, who are two different people.

Do this before you do anything else, then re-read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES.

Ignoring PCNs has not been advised here since the law changed in 2012.

Ignore debt collectors. Never, ever, ever ring parking scammers or their drones.

You are now too late to appeal. The debt collectors stage is spelled out in post 4 of the Newbies thread.

Then put you iphone to one side and use a proper computer with a proper browser.
  • It's all well and good saying to read post 4 of X thread but a few issues (that I've now resolved;

1 Finding the thread on a forum as large as this (running vBulletin with its crap search) is a choir and a half

2 Having found the thread, navigating to post 4 in the thread, without in-line hyperlinks (as thread with that much info needs jumplinks) as a ball ache.

3 upshot appears to be ignore or robustly appeal. FruitCake; thank you for the reply; the post when I eventually found it said the same, although a hyperlink would have got me the answer quicker.

I know posts like these are a-dime-a-dozen but the hostility is frightening, I get this is the thread about the PITA companies and it's the same drivel but some, like me, this is the first time you get something like this and it can be frightening which is why you come to somewhere like this, or CAG, to get answers and help.

I'll ignore letters and revisit if they go further.

to understand the 'cowboy industry' (Hansard) that you have had the misfortune to discover ...

please watch the video of the MP's debate ... read some of there comments and kindly consider complaining

''Rip-offs from car park Cowboys must stop''; unfair treatment; signage deliberately confusing to ensure a PCN is issued; ''years of abuse by rogue parking companies''; bloodsuckers; ''the current system of regulation is hopeless, like putting Dracula in charge of the blood-bank''; extortionate fines; rogue operators; ''sense of injustice''; unfair charges and notices; wilfully misleading; signage is a deliberate act to deceive or mislead; ''confusing signs are often deliberate, to trap innocent drivers''; unreasonable; a curse; harassing; operating in a disgusting way; appeals service is no guarantee of a fair hearing; loathed; outrageous scam; dodgy practice; outrageous abuse; unscrupulous practices; ''the British Parking Association is as much use as a multi-storey car park in the Gobi desert''; and finally, by way of unanimous conclusion: ''we need to crack down on these rogue companies. They are an absolute disgrace to this country. Ordinary motorists and ordinary residents should not have to put up with this''.

These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.

Is it? I don't understand. And I want to understand why it's hard to find.

Looks straightforward to me? Post #4 is right there where you'd expect it to be:

    We know and agree.

Most G24 charges are easy to cancel with a Store Manager complaint, is there another store on site apart from ToysRUs, if not, complain to the site owner/agent about the trashy fake fine.

    Apart from that, ignore them.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Even though the store is in administration ( and closing down) you should still contact the store manager, some toys r us managers have been quite keen to get these cancelled, just remember be polite
