Handing in Notice for rented accomodation...

Hi there,
I'm moving out of my flat next month, and need to hand in my notice today.
I have spoken to them and they've said a simple letter saying notice a month from today should suffice.
I'm wondering whether I should hand in anything else i.e. re my deposit etc. and should I get them to countersign it, and keep a copy???
The letter I'm thinking of sending is this:-
(Address of accomodation at top)
To whom it may concern:
Please take this as written confirmation of one month's notice on the property (Address). I understand from a conversation with you earlier that the tenancy will end on the 23rd November, and someone from your office will check me out of the property on this date. I also understand that following the checkout, my deposit will be refunded to me within 10 days.
Signed.
xxxx
Signed on behalf of your move(confirmation of receipt),
(Their signature here).
Do you think this is ok?? Any advice appreciated.

Looks good to me, I would up it to 14 days, or make it 10 working days. Just because the LL may want to inspect it before releasing the deposit.
I'd take two copies, & get them to sign & date both."Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.

Thanks for the reply. I will up it to 14 days. It's a bit more reasonable I suppose! Will definitely take 2 copies just to keep one for myself. Thanks again.0
