Natwest - Pay mobile contact receiving payment

Strange one - somebody is sending me money via Pay Mobile contact from their RBS account. It is going to my Natwest account despite me not setting up Paym on that. I want it to go to my TSB account which it did do prior to getting the Natwest account.

Only thing I can think of is that because they are part of same group it is ending up in Natwest. Any ideas?

Login your NatWest account and check you haven't accidently registered for PAYM. If you have you should be able to 'deregister PAYM' within your internet banking.

Then login your TSB account and ensure you are registered for PAYM. I didn't think you was even able to register the same mobile number with more than 1 bank, I believe they share a PAYM database. Maybe it's not fool-proof.

I had this problem. I believe it's because 'Pay your contacts' in the Natwest app is completely unconnected to PAYM.

I seem to remember you sign up to 'Pay your contacts' by installing the Natwest app, even if you've activated PAYM elsewhere.

I tried to point out the potential for confusion but Natwest didn't really understand.

This is a known problem with NatWest/RBS accounts. If someone with a NatWest/RBS account sends a payment via PayM/Pay a contact, to a recipient who also has an account with the same group, the bank's systems ignore PayM and send the money to the NatWest/RBS account instead:

Thanks for that. So 2 years after that article they still haven't fixed the issue.
