Phone contract

Hi, I have an 0800 virtual number for my business with Windsor- telecom, I pay for this upfront yearly. The number was due for renewal on 2nd of February 2018, They have just got in touch with me today for the next yearly payment. I don't want the number anymore and asked to cancel, they said I needed to contact them 30 days before renewal date to cancel, and that I now need to pay for another year.
Is this right? Is there anything I can do?
Thanks

It depends on the terms of your contract. It's best to read that. I suspect the fact that it's now nearly 2 months after the renewal date makes it too late to cancel the whole year.0
