Problems with my credit file

Hey everyone..

I am experiencing a bit of trouble with my credit report... I am looking to take out a mortgage however there are some defaults on my score in which I need to be out of arrears for 3 months... now, this is no problem, I can do this, however... 2 of these that are stating I have defaulted, I have contacted today to try and pay this to get it off my file, yet the companies state they have no record of it! but not able to take it off my report!!!
this is obviously a massive problem as it will prevent my getting my mortgage.
these accounts are from 2012 and 2011!!

Any support or advise would be fantastic and greatly appreciated!

If the companies have no record, raise a dispute with the CRAs.
  • I have emailed doddle (the credit reference people) they will be back to me in 72 hours, where do I stand if they reject my dispute?

    Email Noddle, rather than Doddle.

Also Experian and Equifax, the other two providers.

If no joy with those three (And you need ti done on all three), escalte to FOS.
  • I meant noddle, sorry!
I shall email those also, thanks,

Should have said, you obviously only need to contact the others if the defaults are appearing there as well, so check them first.

The default from 2011 should have fallen from your report and the one from 2012 should fall off this year as they stay on your report from 6 years from the default date.

Paying the defaults will NOT get them off your file. They will stay there for six years from the date of default irrespective of whether they are paid or not.
Double-check the default dates. If 6 years has passed from the date of default (as it will have if one of the default dates is 2011) contact the CRA and ask for it to be immediately removed as 6 years have now passed. For the 2012 default just be patient until the date in 2018 6 years from the date of default is reached. There is nothing you can realistically do to speed things up. This removal of defaults should be automatic when the 6 years are up.
To avoid any confusion, defaults with a default date on or before 31 March 2012 should now be gone. Defaults with a default date on or after 1st April 2012 will be removed at the 6 year anniversary of the date of default
