PPI claim on defaulted card

Hi,

I've had a scan through the forum and can't find this asked. Just wondering if I can claim PPI on a credit card I've defaulted on? It was more than 6 years ago, and I believe they haven't chased it for long enough that they can't any more, but could be wrong on that. I'm worried that doing a PPI claim might result in them chasing me for the full amount of my debt.

Any advice?

Any complaint about PPI on such a defaulted debt would be unlikely to result in a refund even if it was successful. The Bank would simply offset any redress against the unpaid debt.

However, a PPI complaint would not reactivate the debt.

Statute barring means they cant come after you through the courts. However, the debt still exists. So, as said above, if your complaint is successful, they can use the redress payment against the unpaid debt.

You must not under any circumstances use a claims company. They will bill you against the redress paid even if you dont see a penny of it in your hands.
