G24 Contractual Parking Notice

I think I've just made my worst 2 mistakes:-

1) Upon receiving a postal "fine" from the above firm yesterday, paying it today
2) Not researching on this site before making payment.

Initially, on receipt of the "fine" I was angry that I had unwittingly overstayed by 25 minutes in a retail park. Then I was angry at the £100 "fine" (£60 if paid within 14 days).

I am now angry that I didn't research before making payment this morning and even more angry that (after reading all the information here), that I have contributed to helping these so called management companies continuing to exist.

After reading the advice, I feel that I couldn't provide evidence for appeal, as the photos provided by the camera on the letter from them clearly show my car entering and exiting the car park with the times that I was actually there. The retail park is 30 miles away from where I live, so going back to look at the notices isn't really an option. So I feel my only option would have been to ignore any communication and hope they would not pursue.

Not that it helps you now, but this is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas.

NONE have ever gone to court. Hundreds of people on here cheerfully ignore G24 every week/year.

You have been mugged. That's what G24 rely upon, people not researching it and thinking it's a fine.
