O/S Daily Thursday 22nd March 2018
This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry underfoot but cloudy.
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, LO yorkshires, mash, HG purple sprouting broc, carrots and brussels, brioche for dessert for those that wanted some. Dinner tonight I'm not sure what we'll be having but I will sort that later.
I have quite a "TO DO" list for today - I'll be heading to town first thing to visit the bank and building society, then I need to get my car emptied cleaned inside and out, housework, washing, drying and ironing, organise dinner - so quite a big work load, but I'll do my best to get as much done as possible, but if it doesn't get done, it can be done tomorrow, I'm not going to get in a state over it.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Feels warmer than yesterday already but still that sneaky wind with us judging by the trees outside.
Can't do with plans going to pot today. Much dashing about in store. First DGDs to rouse, dress, feed and water, then get to school. Back home for quick tidy round, make ourselves presentable and then off down to town on the 9.30 bus to catch the 10.00 train to Leeds. From the station it's then onwards on the bus to St James for Mr TA's Oncology appointment. Then breathe! Hope it's not running late.
No DGD's to dash back for today for a change so, hopefully, there will be time for a quick browse round the Market once we are back in Leeds again. I don't think I have had chance for a wander round the market since before Xmas and I have missed rooting around for possible bargains. Not Mr TA's idea of fun, nor is he up to it, so he will be installed somewhere with a coffee and his paper and instructed not to move till I return!
Might just have a snack lunch along the way as I am leaving a liver and bacon casserole defrosting for Mr TA's dinner tonight. Mine yet to be christened but it won't be liver! Yuk.
Just time for another quick coffee methinks before rousing the girls and then let chaos begin. ((HUGS)) for all in need as always. Have a good day if you can folks and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone.
It’s grey again here. The rain yesterday was terrible again, and I had to go out in the evening to a meeting. Thankfully it was fairly short.
TA - your day sounds so busy! I hope it’s not too stressful.
My day, in contrast, should be easy. I’ve got a video meeting with colleagues about a research project we’re doing until 11am and the driving down to Glasgow. There’s a ‘welfare rights’ worker coming to see DM tomorrow about claiming Attendence Allowance.
I wish everyone a Happy Thursday.0 -
Morning. It seems to be a fine morning here. Though yesterday started fine, then degenerated a bit. it was blooming cold by teatime
You seem to have a busy day ahead TA - hope all goes well for Mr TA, and you get your browse round the market.
We have spent most of the last two days at DD's, stripping the stair banister, what an awful job. Even I'm sick of it, and I like doing jobs like that. 1 layer of varnish, then 3 layers of white paint, then another layer of varnish, and in places they've had to be stripped one by one. Wouldn't be so bad if it all came off in one thick layer. The worst bit is doing the underneath of the banister between the spindles, what a neck aching job. Anyway we are hoping that we'll finish today. It does look nice where it's down to the wood and DH has sanded it. DD's partner says he's going to tell friends we strip staircases. I'll take a hammer to him if he does!!!
If the baby has not arrived by Tuesday morning she'll be going in for induction on Tuesday, so that will end our spell of being on high alert I hope.
Thoughts to all the poorly and worried people, and hoping that Holly is benefiting from her stay in hospital.
Take care folks, and have a good day.0 -
Morning all, thank you for starting us off nmlc.
TA I hope today goes well.
My last office day for this week and that will be followed by trying to reach someone who lives way off a bus route. Fortunately she is keen to see me and will come and pick me up from the last bus stop. It is a poor service though and last time I saw her, I had ages to wait for a bus back to the city. The bus was there but the driver had locked it and gone on his break. It would have been nice for passengers to sit in the bus but then one of us might have decided to take over and drive us off in the bus, it woukd have been Mr Bean-like.
I slept better last night so feel refreshed but I must offer a warning about toast. If there is stale bread, I'll usually use it up for toast and leave what's fresh for OH and DS. Today I forgot to watch it and have had carbonised toast, not quite what I planned. I wonder if there are any health risks or benefits to burnt toast but too late anyway, I've eaten it to avoid waste.
It is sunny, lovely and bright, hoping that it will stay like this for today.
Have a good day everyoneI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's another fine and dry day so far although rain is forecast a bit later on. I didn't sleep too badly and have had a shower and actually got dressed this morning so I feel like I am winning today.
Steve has left for work and Phoebe has left for school. Lilly is starting later today so she is still in bed and Becky is fast asleep. As predicted she refused to go to school yesterday so I will have to contact the S.E.N teacher to see if we can come with an alternative plan. She agreed to write and stick to a timetable at home so at least some school work is being done every day. It is a big worry that's for sure.
TA and nmlc, you have such busy days today, I hope you get a moment to catch your breath. I hope Mr TA's appointment goes smoothly x
I am hoping Jemima comes to see me today. She didn't come round yesterday as she had to wait in for a delivery. I have my fingers crossed that I see her today anyway.
I am going to make some cauliflower cheese today to go with a piece of roast pork and a few roasties. I quite like a mini roast dinner in the week although whoever is on washing up duty will moan I have no doubt.
Well I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
Oh aod, I was always told there are no calories in carbon, maybe you have stumbled on to the next diet trend :rotfl::D0 -
Morning everyone,
Gosh TA that is a busy day, careful you don’t meet yourself coming back!
My DOH got up at 5am to watch the cricket and seriously wishes he hadn’t bothered now, what rubbish.
It’s thursday so that must mean it’s food shop day, given we’ve just had a crust of bread each with the tiniest smear of butter think I’d better go, have a voucher from Sainsbobs £9 off a shop of £60 which is a high amount for us but intend on getting the Easter Eggs for the young people, all too old for them really but Auntie Lainey likes to continue the tradition
Other than that there the house to go through, how thrilling my days are.
Hugs to all poorlies and those with worries, especially Holly.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all,
Absent yesterday as the proverbial hit the fan as soon as I got into work, a hectic day.
Anyway, how is everyone?
My knee injury is still niggling away, so I'm going to take a week off of football, rest up, stretch and see how it goes. If no improvement, I'll visit the doc for a referral to the physio.
This evening however, I've no plans. Oh, tell a lie, I'll be doing my washing tonight - how exciting! Not sure there are many other single lads age with their own pad that gets up to such exciting extracurricular activities.
Scarlett - I too enjoy some labour intense work such as that. The reward comes when you see the finished product and giving yourself a pat on the back knowing you done it. Sounds wonderful, but yeah, I wouldn't make it a full time job!
I hope everyone has a lovely day0 -
Best wishes to all!

Well folks the current score is:
Bodgit and Scarper Nil
Bruisemare Two
Round 3 will take place later when I have given her a severe talking to with several mentions of a certain canine meal tin... Getting peed off with this now.
Otherwise a quiet dull day , very overcast but we seem to have lost the biting wind of yesterday
Hugs and spoons to those in need
