Whats App blocking

I cannot send or receive messages or phone calls from my friends What’s App and he cannot do the same.
He inadvertently blocked my number and then tried to unblock it without any luck.
We have tried removing our numbers and Whats App and reinstalled both.I tried set up a group but it would not accept his number.
We can phone each other and send normal text messages ,both of us are 66 so please be understanding.

If you click on his name, then there is an option to block or unblock. I'm unsure what else to suggest?

Can you select each other using the new contact icon in the bottom right corner on the home screen?

I have an Android phone and just opened WhatsApp

Try this open the WhatsApp that is blocked hard press on name at top

Different page should appear scroll down and you should see where you can unblock . Hope this works for you

Is this on your phone or his? You said he blocked you so you'd have to check on his phone.

This is how I unblock somebody in Whatsapp:

1. Open Whatsao with the list of chats shown.
2. At the top right, press the 3 dots next to the magnifying glass and choose Settings.
3. Tap Accounts and Privacy to open the privacy settings.
4. Almost near the bottom of the screen, under Messaging, you should see Blocked contacts then a number - tap this once to open a list of your blocked contacts.
5. From the list of blocked contacts, find the contact you wish to unblock - you might need to use their phone number if you don't see their name. Once you've found them, tap their name once and select Unblock....

That should be all you need to do. As an exercise of precaution, get your block contact to follow the same steps to unblock you. Just in case they have inadvertently blocked you.
