Seasonal energy usage

Options
I'm interested to know what proportion of energy (gas and electricity) is used in the winter, compared to the rest of the year. By that I mean fuel consumption rather than the amount spent - every bill payer knows that fuel prices only ever seem to increase!

I've monitored my usage for the last 3 months and am predicting that my gas usage - which I use predominantly for heating, I very rarely cook - might be around 40% of the annual total, given that I usually have the heating off between April and mid-October, and heat the water for around 1/2 hour a day. Electricity I am guessing might be 35% of the total but tbh this is just a guess.

I know there are so many variables that the answer could vary quite considerably, but I'm interested to know what everyone estimates their might be.

    Gas for heating & hob:
    44% February bill
    28% May
    12% Aug
    16% Nov.

Electric for ovens & lighting etc doesn't vary much over the year & usage is much less, about a fifth of the gas.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I have used the 6 months between October and March for analysis.

Gas is around 66% of my total usage in those 6 months
    Leccy is 60%

Gas central heating, gas hob, electric oven, about a third LED lights.

    Hope this helps.

My home is a poor shape, too big, and an exposed location - all poor for energy efficiency. The approx figures that I know are in the summer months it takes about 10kW per day to run it, and in the winter it used to peak at say 42-44. I have been long term draft stripping and insulating. Indeed despite having cold spells recently it seems 30-36 this winter so I guess my efforts are working.

Side issue is this, when it was just built but needing lots of TLC to get it finished the heating went on by mid Sept. I have done insulation and that is more like Nov now. A considerable difference here.

Another side issue. I looked at the snow on the roofs last weekend -you could tell the few roofs where owners had proper insulation. Really amazing when loft rolls have been dirt cheap over recent years yet countless folks have not bothered here!

Presumably those with good insulation thawed last?

I think part of the problem is people are less handy these days. Certainly I am about as much use as a chocolate teapot when it comes to anything requiring a little muscle. Crawling into small spaces isn't something I even think about.
