hi people
i have a large sum up to £85,000 that i wish to lock away in a 1 year fixed term bond to get better interest on my savings, i see many companies like investec offering better rates than the high street banks...but my question is really how safe will my money with these type in institutions...i know most are fcsc regulated...but im still very wary as its a such a big sum to deposit...thanks in advance mark

They have FSCS protection so where are the worries? In the event that they fail it would be easier to cover their obligations than it would be for a Lloyds, Barclays etc. I've been a happy Investec customer for years0

The FSCS is not a regulator. It is a compensation scheme paid for by financial services companies.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
