Cheap energy club no answer to email about switch
Hi this is my first post.
I was wondering if others had problems with the cheap energy club?
We applied to switch through the energy club and 3 weeks later we haven't heard anything from new supplier so we called them (British Gas) they have no record of switch and told us to apply again on comparison site. But in energy club it says the switch is in progress so can't do another switch.
We have emailed cheap energy club and 5 days later still no reply.
Anyone know what I should do to get the switch in actual progress?
We only have 1 more week before our tariff ends!!
Id be very grateful to advice
Thanks in advance

If you have been ignored then ignore them.
You don't have to use the cheap energy club to switch with it's pathetic cashback!
If you must switch to BG then you can get £68.25 for a dual fuel switch from TCB
https://www.topcashback.co.uk/british-gas-energy/
but check out the whole market for the best deals available.0 -
Hi Ktkat,
Really sorry to hear that you're having issues with your switch to British Gas. Frustratingly we often hear that supplier call agents will say there's no record of a switch, but actually it's sitting in its back office system as it's either been rejected or needs to be manually worked. It seems that supplier agents often don't have access to this and so from their end it looks as though nothing was submitted.
Unfortunately we've also been hearing from a few other users that they've had delays when switching to British Gas - particularly existing customers as British Gas has to process these applications manually.
I'm sorry that you've not had a reply to your email to us. We always aim to respond to user emails within 2 working days, so it's unusual that you haven't had a response from us. Would you mind dropping us another email today, or forwarding your original message? We've had a couple of other users telling us that they've not had a reply from us, so we think we may have had an intermittent technical problem with some of our emails being sent. This should now be fixed.
If you put 'MSE Laura - Forum' in the subject line, I'll keep an eye out for your email!
Thanks,
MSE Laura0 -

Knowing that there are problems with this particular supplier, why is MSE Cheap Energy Club listing British Gas as a Top Pick? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi Hengus,
Given the recent reports we!!!8217;ve been receiving, British Gas is no longer a Top Pick.0 -

Laura - thank you. I think that it is fair to say that many who look at MSE think that it can do no wrong; that its recommendations are always sound, and that only a fool would not follow MSE's advice.
Can I return to the question that I keep on asking. What criteria do the MSE staff use to annotate a particular supplier/tariff with a Top Pick banner? I am afraid that I see no pattern or logic to your choices. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
We have exactly the same problem, after three weeks of switch in progress on the energy club we called British Gas who said there was no record of a switch request. We are also existing British Gas Customers. They refused to allow us to switch to the All Online tariff directly and said we had to contact the switching service.0

We don't have a published logic which is applied for the top picks. Instead the editorial team review each tariff launched on the market on a case by case basis and look to see if they think it is worthy of being highlighted. Some of the elements which they factor in are including in the 'good for you' and 'not good for you' write-ups, as well as the headline for the tariff on the results page.0 -

Doe these delays due to manual processing affect Sainsbury's energy customers switching to British Gas?0

Yes you are right, no logic in the top picks after you sacked the excellent BGs top tariff for a few unwarranted complaints and then went and applied the top pick to Outfox the Market with no customer feedback at all.We don't have a published logic which is applied for the top picks. Very strange logic .
BG s All Online 2019 is an obvious best buy to any comp site interested in making money given the numbers who will trust BG over Outfox the Market and get new much needed smart meters as well. Bad move from Cheap Energy Club.
The UKs best and most popular comp site, Uswitch have the BG All Online 2019 as "the most popular switch in my area ".
Uswitch and UkPower do not get bogged down in giving out customer reviews like the CEC do to influence the unwary.
Both Eon and Npower as well as BG have been asked by OFGEM to change the wording slightly about the 49 day switchover period which has given a few problems0
