Apologies if this is in the wrong place but does anyone know if Sky charge for moving home?
I've spent ages looking on their website and can't find any reference to a charge, but I'm reluctant to spend the rest of the morning in their customer 'service' queues paying their extortionate phone call charges.
TIA

Last time I did it was some 3 years ago. There was no charge we just took the Sky box with us and reconnected at new address, where there was an existing satellite dish. Obviously if there isn't a dish where you're going, and you're not taking yours with you, there will be the cost of getting a new dish installed as well.0

Lorarentt is correct, if the previous occupants have had Sky previously all you have to do is connect up your equipment in your new home and call them up to change address.
The charge for a moving home was £40 if you have no equipment set up at your new address. I worked there until a couple of months ago so dont think this will have changed in that time.

The house we are moving to has Sky wired in to every room (including the shed!) so I think we'll be covered... thanks for the fast replies.↑ Things I wouldn't say to your face

Hi - don't know anything about sky but if you go to the
saynoto0870 website you can find geographical (not premium)
numbers for sky customer services...
there is also a forum listing the best numbers to call to get
through to an actual person.

Hi
I am also moving home and found that sky dish is not allowed in the new building. I am only 4 month into my 12 month contract with sky satellite and broadband.
What's my option? Thanks.0 -

Unfortunately you will have to pay the full 12 months because you have signed a 12 month contract. You could try talking to sky but I don't think they will let you out of your contract.
Can you ask any family or friends to take the sky for you? You will have to pay for it anyway, they may help with some of the cost. That way at least you will save some money.
Sorry I realise its not what you wanted to hear.0 -

That's what we did 4 years ago but this time the seller is taking their dish with them - why

Find out whether there is a dish installed at the new property. If so then great.
IF not... Call sky and ask about getting one installed. I think the standard connection charge is £60 + dish (or free dish if you bring your own!).
Whatever you do, DO NOT tell them the new address or it will be listed on the system under your name. Tell them you want reconnecting at new address for free, If they refuse to reconnect you cancel your subscription (if you can). Once you're settled in the new house sign up as a new customer. They only cross-reference Name against Address so it shouldnt flag you up as a previous customer. You'll get all the deals going for a new customer, which usually includes free connection and even sky+ if you play it right!!
As i said. What ever you do, do not tell them the new address. They will try every which way to get it out of you when you call to enquire about moving.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -

In 4 years at our current house we've never been able to pick up channels on our tv due to poor reception, so have always used sky.
Tomorrow I will be phoning to downgarde my sports package (£38 per month) to skyplus only (£10 per month) due to the football season finishing next month.
One thing I have always thought of doing is trying the PVR route but couldn't due to poor reception.
Although the new house doesn't have a sky dish it does have a brand new digital aerial so I think I may purchase a Humax 9200 for £160 and see how i get on. It could save me £38 per month and for the small number of times my team appears on Sky it's a good excuse to go to the pub instead :beer:0
