O/S Daily Wednesday 21st March 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit.

Now light, dry, cold and frosty.

Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg. I remembered to get the meat out to defrost, so tonight we'll be having beef stew, dumplings, mash and veg.

Yesterday work started off slow but then went absolutely manic for the whole morning and into the afternoon, but then did ease off about an hour before we finished - just long enough for us to catch up and take a breath. There's also a situation that arose yesterday afternoon that I'm not happy about and I've made my views crystal clear - I'm not expecting that it'll change but I'm seriously unhappy about it and the way until it's been handled. Luckily I'm using up a days' holiday which I booked weeks ago, so I'm now off, but do have to work Saturday morning.

I also pegged a line of washing out yesterday morning and it was dull and cloudy - but the sky cleared quite early and we had beautiful sunshine all day, although it wasn't particularly warm, so another day of washing line dried.

At the moment heating seems to be ok. WM ok, just awaiting the engineers visit on Friday to sort out the fridge freezer.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.

I'm up, have been for hours now, currently eating some toast and will soon have a shower.

I haven't been outside but it looks sunny, and it seems that we must make the best if it as snow may return for Easter. I have not bought Easter Eggs yet, I must.

Other than the above I have nothing to report. Hope people have fun today and that Holly has a tolerable day.

    Morning All

Wall to wall sunshine yesterday, it was really beautiful with a fantastic sunset too, Ben Lomond was stunning, all pink and orange with the snow. Today looks to be more overcast and I think we are due to have rain.

Our school netball team visited another school yesterday and we won after a hard struggle. I was late getting home so flopped on the sofa for the evening, I'll try harder tonight!

Hope you're all safe and well, how are you feeling RR? Thinking of Holly too.

    Happy Wednesday, take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Brr a nippy start here, Jack Frost has been out and about, but it's forecast to warm up a bit.Still pockets of snow around where the sun can't reach.

I'm all to pot this week with the usual appointments scuppering things. The Thursday shop got done yesterday after my appointments at the surgery. Our newly done up and re-organised Aldi re-opened at the weekend and yesterday was our first visit. It's lovely and appears so much bigger and spacious somehow. But I couldn't find anything in the big shift around! I'll get used to it eventually.

Today I must tackle some long neglected jobs, including sweeping the back patio which is full of winter rubbish. Then ponder on how best to clean it! It might be a long ponder!

The DGDs are here for tea after ballet/dance and then a sleepover before tomorrow's school run as DD is on early shift. I am not sure yet what their tea will be as they all arrive at different times and always want food the minute they fall through the door! Spag Bol might be an idea.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely who want them. Take care all xx

    Good morning everyone.

Back to grey skies here, the upside is slightly raised temperatures. Think I’d prefer cold and bright if given a choice.

Last night I managed to stay awake long enough to watch the final episode of Shetland. Happy to say my fears came to naught though the end was very sad.

Today brings me two hours teaching and then I’ll do another cake making session. This time I’m aiming for another chocolate cake and a lemon drizzle one. Not taxing for me, just not sure the new mixer machine will do it properly.

Tonight there’s a meeting for the transport volunteers - I hate meetings!

    Happy Wednesday to all

Good Morning chums ,bit brighter here this morning although still a bit nippy but dry at least.I have my sis-in-law from Faversham coming this morning and looking forward to a good natter as I've not seen her since before Christmas ,both of us have really busy lives and sometimes the time just runs away with us IYSWIM.

I am going to make a nice victoria sponge cake as I have a pot of whipping cream in the fridge to use up before the weekend :) I may do a few scones as well for my DGS.

Quiz was fun last night although we only came forth it was a good night and everyone enjoyed it.

Happy Birthday to anyone celebrating today, hope you get spoilt, and well looked after.

I was glad to have gone to my ex neighbours funeral, even though it was obviously a sad affair I met up with a few old friends there and we all nattered about the queens silver jubilee street party where everyone dressed up and how he had been the inspration to get everyone together in our road bless him. Hoping I have no more this year now.

I may take my front net curtains down later today if the weather holds and chuck them in the wash as they are looking decidedly grey and wintery, spring cleaning looms :):)

Have a great day chums what ever you are doing

    JackieO xx

P.S. AOD Erith is south of the Thames, and if you cross the river on the ferry at Woolwich (free ) and turn left and just keep driving through Plumstead and Belvedere the road eventually brings you into Erith.Fairly straight road and easy to find. I lived in Barnehurst for 24 years before down sizing to north Kent and know Erith quite well

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a bright and sunny morning here which is lovely to see. It is a blessed appointment free day today so I am planning on just relaxing. Becky is supposed to go to school today but I doubt that will happen seeing as she hasn't been for a couple of weeks now. I will encourage her to go though as it is not good for her to keep isolating herself.

Steve has left for work and the other girls are getting ready for school/college. Lilly wants to get tickets for the school dance today so she will be going in a bit earlier. I hope she gets them as she has been practicing walking around in very high heels for a few days now as she wants to wear them to the dance. It makes me smile as she is already very tall and with 6" heels on she will tower above mostly everybody.

I hope Jemima comes round today to see me. She had to work on her birthday so maybe we will go and have a ladies lunch at Wetherspoons later on today. Oh scratch that, I have shopping being delivered at lunch time. Oh well, I can always make us something instead.

Fish and chips for dinner tonight (if they get delivered from Asda). The only other thing I am doing today is a quick tidy and then settle down with my knitting. I've started watching Call the Midwife on Netflix and I am really enjoying it but every episode has made me cry. I am such a softy or horribly hormonal :o.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning all,

Tossed and turned in bed last night. Whilst the bed in the caravan is comfortable, it's not as comfortable as the bed at home and I forgot to pack Grumps leg soap so he was restless. Talking about Grump, ill be glad when he's finished this course of steroids. If it's edible, he will eat it. He polished off 8 donuts last night and that was after his evening meal.

Adonis came round last night. His latest lady love has binned him and he's heartbroken. Shame really as he's such a lovely man but maybe the 20 year age gap was a bit much. She is 50, he is 70.

Not sure what he's got planned for today though a trip to Morrisons will be made at some point as he needs some Milton for the toilet. Probably pick up more donuts too. Strangely enough, despite overeating, he's not putting on weight in fact he's losing it...but now I'm waffling.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

    Morning everyone,

Dry, bright and sunny here but with a sharp frost.

We just had a lovely breakfast with bacon and tomatoes, both griddled and enjoyed by all three of us :D this will set us up nicely as intend to take little dog out for a long walk this morning, her walks have been rather curtailed for the last couple of weeks and think we could all do with a leg stretch. Also need to make the most of having DOH at home as, after 3 years of working for himself, he has decided to go back into the workplace and applied for a FD’s position yesterday. Will be a big change for all of us but think he needs to do it for a number of reasons.

Not much else planned, obviously over to see Lu later and have some sausages out for tea.

It’s 8 years today since my darling eldest brother died, he was such a smashing chap and I miss him every day :heart2:

Have a good day folks x

    Morning folks
Lovely sunny day but cold at the moment.
My mornings 'entertainment' has been dropped on me by Bruise mare. Stable door wrecked, hinge bent etc. She's moulting and must have had an itch and a good rub. Its fixable but annoying as I only repaired the same bit last week.. Grrr.
Oh well onwards and upwards as they say
Hugs and spoons to those in need
