Mis-sold PPI

I have recently tried to claim for mis-sold PPI Alliance & Leicester (now Santander) for a car loan , and they have said they are unable to locate my records. This is despite me knowing the dates/term of the loan, the amount, the policy number and having my bank statements as proof. And my address at the time. However, the loan was from rom 24 October 1994 until 1 October 1997. Should I appeal to the Ombudsman or is it unlikely anything will come from it?

The ombudsman does not hold any records. It will just ask Santander to look again and if they verify to the FOS that there are no records then the FOS cannot make a judgement.
Spend £10 and do a data subject access request. That digs about as deep as you can get with Santander. If there is nothing in the details they supply you then you know they were telling the truth.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
