Nursery charges

What time does the nursery open?
7am!
When DS1 went I used to drop him off at 7.30am and it was quite busy.
I'm now limited by when his school breakfast club is open as to when I can get into nursery.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
If by your own admission you are leaving before your paid time, even by minutes, then I think the charge is fair.
Giving people five minutes grace to come in and get the kids sorted is fine, I would say leaving them early isn!!!8217;t fair.
Just start taking them in at 8.25 and leaving on the dot of 8.30. I think you have said before you are a teacher (or if not, I was until recently) so I!!!8217;m sure you know that even a couple of minutes can be problematic.0 -
My sons nursery have core standard hours of 8am until 6pm
My partner starts work at 8am, so has to drop him off at 7:30
For the extra half an hour the nursery charge £8, doesn't sound a lot but soon adds up.
Thank god he only goes 3 days a week. Roll on primary school in September :rotfl:0 -
The nursery I used didn't have any faffing around with getting coats off etc etc. You knocked on the door, handed over the child at the threshold, and walked away. All done in less than a minute, even if you had sacks of nappies and lunch boxes to hand over as well. Collection took a bit longer - mainly because they were obliged to tell you exactly what they'd eaten, how many bowel movements they'd had, and then to hand over a mountain of artwork which you had to juggle back to the car along with the child and their stuff.0

If you were there until within the 5 min grace period then I'd consider the charge unfair. I'd consider them 'dropped off' as I left the room. Have you asked the nursery for clarification?I have received an invoice for an extra half hour for apparently dropping them off 10 minutes before the allotted start time.
The nursery allows a 5 minute grace period for being early/late.
...leave a minute or two before 8.30am or just after.
Is it a fair assumption that I am still in charge of my children until I leave the room, or can they charge from the second I step through the door?0 -

Apparently the 'grace period' is occasionally rather than frequently, so me leaving 2 minutes before the 8.30am most days was not allowed.
And there was me thinking my prompt exit of the car park was helpful due to the drop off issue and lack of parking which parents constantly moan about...
As I am in no rush in the morning then I will happily loiter in the car for a few minutes.

If, as you say you're in no rush why not just drop the children off after 8:30? You miss the rush of parents and the congestion in the car park and you don't get a charge.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0
