Tui online excursions

does any one else have experiences of booking day excursions online via TUI , I booked an online excursion for a trip to mount Teide via the TUI online excursion website , the night before I received an email at the hotel that the trip had been cancelled due to bad weather, the next morning I went to the TUI travel rep at the hotel and she told me that if I had booked through her I would have received a refund from her, she informed me to contact TUI when I returned back in the UK I did this and after many phone calls and emails I have been informed that it was my fault for reading the small print and would not refund me any money , so I would like to warn families and large groups from booking online with this company as you could lose £100s as if cancelled due to lack of numbers booked for the trip or bad weather for example Tui will take your money but will not refund you

  • I must admit I was a little taken aback by this so had a look at their t&cs.

According to this if its cancelled by the supplier then you only get back what you paid (last sentence of the paragraph headed changes & cancellations to the booking)

    Does this help?

It is clear you are entitled to a full refund, if you get it you may be luckier than me. When I took the excursion some years ago we got half way before we were told the road ahead was closed. Surprisingly, we stopped a restaurant recommended by the Rep, there was nowhere else to eat and the food was dreadful. There was no offer of a partial refund even though the road had clearly been closed for some time, it was the last time I ever booked an excusion through a tour operator!
  • I can't see any reason why you are not entitled to a refund.
