What's it about?
Pop to Sainsburys this Saturday 27 October and grab yourself a free energy saving bulb. There's a million Philips 11W (60 watt equivalent) bulbs being given out across the UK.
What, that's all I have to do?
All you need do is fill in a card ticking off the energy saving step you pledge to take.
What pledges can I make?
There are seven but there's no need to limit yourself to doing these. For more ways to cut energy bills read the Gas and Electricity Cost Cutting article.

- Replace a light bulb with an energy saving light bulb
- Take re-usable bags for shopping rather than use disposable bags
- Unplug the phone charger when it’s not being used
- Keep the fridge and freezer running efficiently
- Switch to taking more showers than baths
- Try drying clothes outdoors or hang them up inside, rather than using the tumble dryer

From what I can tell yes but you have to give some kind of pledge towards energy savings. Only available in store look for the signs I would suggest and limited numbers per store starting on Saturday continuing into Sunday stock permitting.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0

On October 27, Sainsbury's will be giving away energy-saving light bulbs to customers who agree make an energy-saving pledge.
To claim a free Philips 11 watt bulb (equivalent to 60w incandescent light bulb), customers at 450 of its stores around the UK will be asked to choose from a variety of pledges ranging from switching to energy-saving lighting, taking reusable bags for shopping rather than use disposable bags, or drying clothes outdoors or hanging them up inside rather than using a tumble dryer.

LOL I do all those things, I have a few lights that dont have energy bulbs either you cant get them for the light or I dont use the light enough to warrant a energy bulbs which are all the expensive types anyhow.
I must have paid this year alone £80 on energy bulbs and replacement light switches in order to have energy bulbs fitted
I also burn wood in a log burner so far no Central heating on, dry clothes outside when I can all near the burner. Its 26c where I am sitting next to burner too hot for long periods
Also reuse bags at the shoppennylane99 wrote: »On October 27, Sainsbury's will be giving away energy-saving light bulbs to customers who agree make an energy-saving pledge.

            Thanks for the information!
Morrisons also run frequent offers on Philips and 18 Watt Economy Stick bulbs at around 30 to 50p (retail price approx. 0.95p).
These bulbs are dimer than the traditional one when it first switch one. The light is similar once it get running. It make good saving on electricity bills as the bulb does not heat up as much.
Highly recommend to everyone still using traditional light bulbs.0

Most CFLs burn at 2700K, which gives yellow light, similar to incandescent bulbs. I would love 3500K White CFLs s at the same price, but can you get them, NO!! Some CFLs are marke with the colour temperature, which helps. The Philips Genie CFLs were originally for the Chinese market, now they have spread across here due to low cost.

They're missing a pledge on that list - reducing paper use by not filling in pointless forms! 0 0
