  • Then you need to check all 3 credit files then.

Who is the CRA that the underwriter reports to?

It could be something else then.

Is she on the Electoral Roll? Does she have credit elsewhere? Any defaults or late payments with any other credit accounts?

    Gary.
I wish I had her payment record.... electoral roll = yes, and not a single missed payment.
Wasn't affordability or address (these could be proved with supporting documentation)

I'm reading this and thinking that the issue is not the car insurance/fronting.
The issue is that she is the named person on a credit arrangement that then defaulted. That's the bit that needs sorted.

Hit the nail right on the head!
But I don't know where to start on this ...

This will be visible on the Credit Reports you obtain
  • Would paying it be an option?
Otherwise, report him to the police for fraud?

The issue is with the missed payments the the insurance company.

She will need to report him to the police and obtain a crime reference number. Call the insurance company and let them know of the fraud and ask them to remove the default from her credit files and providing them the crime reference number.

This should be enough to get the default removed. It will take time though.

She was the policy holder... she explained to the police officer who stopped him (as she was in the car at the time) that she didn't know anything, for example why she would even be a named driver on the policy.
I didn't mean to confuse the issue, sorry

OK, then she needs to report the fact that the insurance was taken in her name without her knowledge or consent. Also, as others have mentioned, if the payments were setup monthly and defaulted on she also needs to report this fraud as it will have an impact on her credit standing.

Paying it won't remove the missed payment markers. Contacting the police, reporting it as fraud and then notifying the CRAs will.
