O/S Daily Tuesday 20th March 2018

This is an !!!8220;over the garden fence!!!8221; type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It!!!8217;s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we!!!8217;re going to do today or what we!!!8217;ve achieved already. Everyone!!!8217;s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn!!!8217;t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don!!!8217;t post large pictures, or clip art !!!8211; links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don!!!8217;t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, looks dry underfoot but rain is now starting - mixed day is forecast but not as cold.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, tonight will be gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato and peas.

Engineer came out last night and checked the timer out and all seems to be working ok, he's altered the settings slightly and tested it and we could hear the unit clicking on and off as messages were sent and received. It's worked as it should this morning, came on when it should etc, we'll see.

Yesterday was another nightmare day, lots of customers, not enough staff. Today is likely to be similar, but the upside is that the day flies by.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning All

Beautiful sunrise here but cold, looks like it could be a lovely day.

Nothing much to report, washing nearly up to date, house reasonably ok but must clean the bathrooms later, I was too tired last night and went to bed at 8.30.

Hope you are all ok, take care. XX
  • Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun is peeping over the hill but I don't think he has got his hat on as we are forecast light cloud all day. And 7 deg! Wow after the Arctic weather we've been having I'll settle for that.

A busy day of appointments for me. Hairdressers this morning for a much needed trim. When it's short it seems to need cutting every other week! Then this afternoon two appointments back to back at the surgery. First the Spirometry to check the base line for the 4 times a year tests I need to have if I am to stay on the Nitrofurantoin prophylaxis. Then my annual hypertension review. By then I shall be so strung up my BP will be through the roof before she starts. White coat syndrome and all that.

Lunch will be a quick soup and sandwich between trips up and down to town. Then dinner, at Mr TA's request, is to be fish pie. I have just got some fish pie mix out to defrost and will peel the spuds shortly.

Yesterday's sun melted a lot of the lying snow but there are still mounds about where the sun didn't reach. The frozen snow on the pavements was deadly yesterday.

Oh well better get myself moving. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all those in need/want of them. Thinking of HOLLY especially. Take care all xxx

    Morning all.

It’s a frosty start here though the sky is clear and bright and turning blue. Could be another beautiful day.

Plans for today include a two hour teaching session and then a bit of cake making.

I hope everyone is doing OK. Happy Tuesday.

Morning. It's a quiet fine morning here, and the outside thermometer says 4 degrees, so a little bit warmer.

Yesterday was uneventful - i visited my friend in the morning, and she mentioned that she'd ordered a book from the library, which reminded me that I had a book that was due back yesterday. As soon as I got home I nipped out again and returned it.

The afternoon was just what I call "stuff" - general tidying, and I took up a pair of my jeans. The ironing pile is growing a bit, so maybe better tackle that in the next day or two.

It probably won't get done today, as I'm at Tai Chi this morning, and will join DH at DD's after that - there's a few jobs to help her with now the builder has finished, It's our usual quiz night tonight, and that'll be Tuesday over with. The days do slip away.

Hugs to anyone that needs them, and take care folks.

Good Morning chums a little brighter sky but still pretty nippy.Hairdressers this morning for a trim then bank managers this afternoon for a chat about moving some cash to a better account for long term savings.

Really a bit cross this morning I have a JL c/card I use as a debit card and pay it off almost immediately, the last three payments went through without a problem yet this morning for some reason its refusing my banks debit card yet the card is the exact same card I have been using for the past 9 months. Its not out of date or anything, weird I have sent an email to JL to see whats happening.

Tomorrow I have my third funeral to go to in three months, an ex neighbour of mine sadly passed away and my OH and I were great friends with both him and his wife. I hope its the last one this year as I feel like its not been a great start to the year with three in three months, I am still hoping for some brighter news with the arrival of my new Gt Granddaughter which is imminent.

What with the bad weather and the sadness I think I am in need of some cheery news for a change.

I may have to take my car into the garage at some point I will try it this morning and see if the wipers have decided to work. They were frozen solid on Sunday night ,hopefully they may have defrosted as I don't really need the expence of them going wrong

I hope the sun may come out today as the sky seems a bit brighter at least

Happy Birthday to anyone celebrating and hope the rest of you are warm and dry

    Cheers chums

    Morning everyone,

Light cloud here and it’s obviously rained in the night but dry at the moment.

We were relatively successful on our shopping trip yesterday, DOH picked up a couple of pairs of jeans plus a new belt which he’s been desperate for, I got some new knicks and a couple of plain tees in M&S.
Today I have a schooling lesson on Lu this morning and then will do a cleaning catch up.
Tea is a snap with TA as have taken a fish pie mix out of the freezer.

Hugs to all poorlies and those with worries, thinking of Holly and hope she is doing ok.

Have a good day folks x

Glad the birthday girls had good weekends x

I am going to pop into town after I've walked Ly1a,and will call in a1di as I am running out of cooking oil and olive oil,and need to pick up a couple of birthday cards, I seem to have lost my card making mojo at the moment.

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Most of the snow has gone, just odd piles here and there, but its very cold. I had to go out and undo the gate, fencer phoned yesterday to say he was coming this morning 8.30am, so up and 'at em.

I have load of whites in the washer, they will have to go into the dryer, cannot trappse over very wet grass to hang the clothes up.

I have put the salmon for supper in the small oven to cook, will put it in the fridge when its cooled, we will have it with salad and new potatoes.

I did manage to iron the bed linen yesterday, I need to do the floor in the wet room.
  • Good morning ladies,

Another beautiful, but freezing, morning in Glasgow. I woke to a pinky/blue sky this morning, first time in a long time.

Yesterday, after work, I played 2 x games of football then came back, showered and had an omelette. Snoozing for 10pm.

This morning, I've been to the gym and I've no plans this evening, I might try some yoga at home. Ketogenic chicken tenders with steamed veg for dinner.

Oh, my friend saw a flyer for a study in Glasgow University, looking for people who eat a low carb diet (me!!!). So I sent an email, keen to find out more and it appears I've been selected. I think they want me to come in, ask questions about my diet, measure my body fat and other indicators and take some blood. Really quite excited by it all. Keep you all posted.

I hope everyone has a nice day, particuarly Jackie and HH.

Been up a while and have been pottering around have brought dd's washing down and got that in the wm, she normally does her own washing but as im off its just as easy for me to do it.

What a change from yesterdays weather its positively balmy out there today, I might even try and hang some washing. Yesterday we took little madam up to the park twice and wrapped up so much that all you could see was our eyes, the wind was so bitter, but she loved it and met a few of her mates down there and they run and run like loons !

I feel so much more rested being off work, I am still very tired and seem to fall asleep mid afternoon but I do feel more rested.

Pasta for dinner tonight with prawns and some cod which I found in the freezer, will do it in garlic and butter, dd's boyf wont eat fish but I not making a separate meal so he will just have to eat around it, he will not eat anything with tomatoes, anything spicy or any fish, but he has eaten tomatoes here and said he quite liked them, so I shall just give him his meal and I bet he eats it, he did say that his mum is the most terrible cook and that put him off of a lot of things so im hoping he will start to eat more of the type of things we eat.

Right im going to have some toast and hang the washing.

    Have good days all xx
