Penalty charge for not showing permit

Hi everyone, I received a penalty charge notice of £100 (payable with £60 days) for not showing a valid permit in my work car park. It is managed by a private car parking company and the building management company have no authority to do anything about it.

I have a flat tyre at the moment and had to borrow a car off someone to get to work and forgot to take the permit out of mine and put it in theirs.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an existing thread with advice on if there is any way of contesting this? The ticket states the offence as ‘failing to show a valid permit’. As mentioned I have a valid permit but wasn’t showing it at the time of the incident.

Hi. Thanks. They!!!8217;re a company called ES Parking Enforcement Ltd. My employer can!!!8217;t cancel as they!!!8217;re rented offices. He has had tickets himself which he has had to contest, they firm have been reluctant to cancel for anyone. M

Just appeal as keeper using the template from the NEWBIES thread. That's stage one done. Just make sure you don't reveal the driver's identity, and don't miss the appeal deadline.

You should also complain to your MP.

These are the exact words used, so you should quote them to your MP in a complaint and ask him/her to contact Sir Greg Knight MP if he wants further information about this scam.

If this went to court, a judge might think that, if you were otherwise entitled to park there, Forgetting to show a permit was a very minor breach of contract and that wanting £100 for such was an unlawful penalty and find against the PPC.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks, leaving site, and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned by Honourable Members.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas.
