    I've had 5 quotes now, all below 5k for our roof. Up and over 5.4m x 5.5m x 2
I'd still argue that "under" £5K for that size of roof is pretty damn cheap, considering you'd be looking at a £1K to £2K for all the guttering, soffits and facias alone.

TBH, I've finding this difficult to believe. You're normally looking at 1-2 weeks for a complete new roof, even if you had 6 guys you still would probably have 2 on the roof at any given time. I can't believe that they had scaffold erected, a complete new roof, soffits, facias and a flat roof done in a single day.

Are we sure this wasn't an episode of DIY SOS ;)

Not true at all, the scaffolding may have been put up another day. We're getting ours done right now with 3 men, they started at 8.30am this morning and are now laying the new tiles and will be done well before the end of the day.
    Make £10 per day-

I have just had my roof re-roofed in slates (in surrey).
Its a bit bigger 9x5mx2 with slate, simple up and over.
It was £7k roofing materials and labour.
    But that excluded:
    - skips c £500
    - Scaffold £1200
    - Fascia and soffits (done by the previous owner at a cost of £3k - which I thought a bit high).
    - Lead flashings c £450.

So about £12k (incl soffits/ fascia), albeit for a slightly bigger roof.

£5k for your roof does feel light to me, if it does include everything.

Doing it in one day is some pretty good going. But with a gang of 6 working hard, all day not impossible. It certainly shouldn't be weeks.

£10k feels a bit high, but if it includes everything including VAT, its maybe 'high' rather than 'extortionate'. You are probably paying the profit and overhead of a larger company, but not

Get someone to check the quality of the roof.

Whether are not you are duty bound to pay, as others have said, is all down to whether they have done the work they agreed on the quote. And whether the work was agreed with someone who is capable of making decision without any undue pressure applied (including doorstep selling in certain instances).
