The point though is surely that the OP was content with the amount being charged and paid it, but has only starting quibbling about what's on the receipt? (and on the other thread has daft objections about VAT and company numbers)

The OP didn't have the receipt at first and paid the landlord on trust.

Do you accept that you are responsible for blocking the drain? If you have recently moved in or have not been pouring fat down the sink I would not have paid at all as the blockage would have been caused by the previous residents.

Next time buy a plunger or a a bottle of drain cleaner and DIY.

The question of the detail of the pricing has been asked on both threads but none has been provided. These people tend to charge by time rather than the thing they did so it could simply be an error of wording on the invoice.

It certainly doesn't make the landlord a cheat.

Get in touch with the company that did the work and ask them to correct the invoice, if you're bothered. Expect to receive an invoice for the exact same total, with the words 'jetting of drains' replaced by 'rodding of drains'.

Indeed, it may simply be their fee for turning and unblocking a drain, no matter what method they end up using. They could correct the narrative on the receipt if it makes the OP any happier, doesn't mean there's going to be a refund.

OP should just have got their own contractor in if they wanted more control over the costs.

Jetting the drains and using rods are different things.

Rods remove blockages whereas jets will also clean scale and other deposits off the inside of the pipes. If the blockages were caused by things getting snagged on scale buildup then rodding them won't solve the problem long term.

If I'd been charged for jetting I would expect it to cost more but also prevent a re-occurrence of the blockage. If it wasn't then done I'd want a refund.

OP has no contract with drain cleaner.

Contract between landlord and drain cleaner. Entirely up to landlord if they wish to challenge, or not.
