Fitbit

Options
I purchased a Fitbit Alta HR online from Fitbit.com 8 months ago. After a few months the strap broke and I contacted them about it and was sent a new one. I have had the new strap for 3 months and it has broken again. I have contacted Fitbit and they have said they will send me a new strap again.

I requested a refund but they have said they will only provide a new strap and sent a copy of their warranty policy. The policy states they will provide a refund within 45 days of purchase and not beyond that. My concern is that the one year warranty on my Fitbit expires at the beginning of July and if they send me a new strap and it breaks again I may be out of warranty. When the strap breaks the watch falls off my wrist and it's thanks to others noticing that I haven't lost it yet.

Does have anybody have any advice?

Thank you

Had a similar issue with the Fitbit Surge - purchased in May 2016 and watch strap would start to bubble and peal within 3-6 months.

Went to retailer for initial replacement however went to Fitbit for subsequent - had 5 replacement in the end before i got fed up with product failing.

I went to retailer and requested refund under 2 Year Warranty and they advised me to go to Fitbit.

Fitbit offer 2 Year Warranty however would only replace and not refund as I purchased elsewhere.

I looked at my rights and under the Consumer Rights Act you can get a refund or replacement within the first 6 months as retailer has to prove fault was not present at time of purchase. As replacements had lasted less than 6 months the same conditions applied.

In the end I went to Resolver and contacted retailer - advised of issue and right under the Consumer Rights Act and they agreed to refund me at one of the stores. I went back to the store and asked for refund under the Consumer Rights Act, they refused again and advised me to go to Fitbit so i then presented the letter and then they agreed to give full refund,
  • Between me and my son since June 2016 to Jan 2018 we have had 12 Fitbit Surges between us. One purchased from Argos, one from Tesco both paid for with credit card. Various syncing issues, bubbling straps, faulty replacements!! In the end in January, worried that the Fitbit 2 year warranty would run out eventually as the date goes from the original purchase not the many replacements. I went back to both high street stores with faulty 6 (in each store) watches, as Fitbit had kindly let me keep the broken ones each time I contacted them and under section 75 of the credit act asked for and got a full refund from both retailers 18 months from original purchase date. A little difficult when dealing with store assistants in store when they are not clear on section 75 but when you know your rights they have to refund. This watch was clearly not fit for purpose

Digging up an old thread but my surge strap has bubbled 2 months outside of warranty. Best I've been offered is 25% off a new one, i know i could buy a new strap off of ebay but a bit peeved that I've had this happen twice (probably only twice as i stopped wearing it for a few months after the first strap went).

Is it worth trying to go back to the original retailer (Amazon), or should I just give up?
