Cooker hood extractor vent cover question

Hello,
My cooker hood's external extractor vent cover has a 'louvre' type vent covering which means that a small draft is blowing into the kitchen from the cooker hood.
I'm planning to replace the vent with new 'flap' type one (the type where the flaps lift up when the extractor fan is on).
I've no idea how powerful a cooker hood fan is though - will the fan be typically be powerful enough to push air through the flaps?
Thanks,
Zither

I have a 4 speed Bosch extractor with an external shuttered vent (approx. 6" by 6") and even on the lowest setting the fan produces more than enough airflow to open the shutters.0

Ive had shutter vents on all my properties over the years. Cowl vents and square flap vents. Also in-line butterfly baffles on my bathroom extractors and I can tell you they all flap in the wind making a constant slapping sound and whilst they may slow a draught more than a straight louvre vent they will not stop it. These have all been on end walls of end terraces which seem to be windy places, in my experience. You may have better luck in a more sheltered spot. I prefer the cowl vent, appears more protected from the elements.0

Also, I think you'll be surprised how little an airflow you need to lift the vents. Your extractor hood should have no problem. Only if extraction pipe is 2m or so long, then a stronger fan is preferred.0
