“Lost” microchip.....cat

Yes, happened to me but with a dog- he had no chip for more than 5 years. I had him scanned at a Dogs Trust Dogmobile and hey presto no chip and they scanned all over to check if it had migrated.
Seems likely that the chip was either wrongly inserted or caught on the surface of the fur, scanned correctly then- but dropped off. Done by a vet but I no longer used that surgery.
I can't remember what happened then- I contacted the company- but it's about 15 years ago...........think they said chips rarely fail .... Had a new chip inserted by a charity! which was a good bit cheaper.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

It's a common thing to be happening with cats and even dog that are microchipped. Just check with your vet and see why it has happened and with the costs of such there should be some security if in case something like that happens ever again.0
