Iberdrola/Scottish Power share history

Does anyone know how I can find out the historical cost information for my holding of Iberdrola shares.
These were purchased back in 1991 under the public offering and extra shares were always taken in lieu of dividends.
I am now considering selling some shares every year but want to avoid CGT and my accountant says I need to know the purchase costs.
I contacted Scottish Power and they said speak to the Registrars which I did but they say they cannot help me on this and that I need to contact Scottish Power???
