Prince2 Training

I'm aware that Prince2 has changed since I did it. However what I would recommend is
- buy the up to date manual and read it. (Prepare for braincells dying in their thousands from boredom
- find a website and do as many practice questions as you can. It might even be worth paying a little for extra practice questions. Just keep bashing through them and reading the feedback - it will make a sort of sense eventually.
You could even try doing some practice tests before you start, to see what is ahead of you - I just revised doing https://www.greycampus.com/opencampus/prince-2-foundation/practise-exams (which just happened to be the first I found)
- I think any college will sell you an exam, or look on GrouponEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Timpu - I have worked in project management previously but took a big step down when I had my little boy. I'm ready to start building up again but it's difficult and believe that I will have a better chance, and much more confidence, if I gain a qualification to enhance my credibility and CV.
What industry do you work in?
I can back Timpu up in his statement that PRINCE2 is a very old methodology. I know some more traditional companies and (of course!) the civil service still value PRINCE2, but in general it is a very rigid methodology that a lot of industries do not use or value knowledge of anymore. PRINCE2 is not an introduction to project management in general, but a specific methodology only used in very select environments.
For most contexts I'd reccomend the APM qualifications, which provide a grounding in general 'traditional' project management coupled with some shorter courses on agile methodology (which, by the way, is how all good projects are actually managed :-) ). I can't reccomend any agile training, I did mine through my employer a good few years ago, but I'm sure there's lots out there. Get familiar with some basic agile PM tools (Trello is almost ubiquitous now, so start there).
If you are sure PRINCE2 is what you need, though, go for it.0 -
I just bought the Prince2 Foundation course for the princely sum of £20. Yes, the exam will be circa £250 but that's still less than £300 for both. As I am asked if I have this qualification when applying for PM jobs I think it will be money well spent.0

Most companies are not interested in the foundation qualification. it is the practitioner qualification that companies ask for0 -

I also agree that PRINCE2 is very "old school" project management which I hardly ever see these days outside of the public sector. It's also a very tedious course which is just about regurgitating their definitions and has nothing to do with practical experience.0

I did Foundation and Practitioner in the classroom with QA. Some course providers offer a guarantee that you can keep coming back on their courses until you pass (you just have to pay the exam fee each time).
I also did Prince2 Agile Practitioner.0 -
Hi
I am looking to complete Prince2 Foundation and Practitioners courses in the immediate future. I have received some quotes from a couple of training providers but I am looking at £1000+ to complete both with exams (online studying too, not classroom based training).
Has anyone completed this course and if so, who did they complete the training with? I have bought a study book from Amazon which I intended to use as a self study training aid but I'm not sure how long it will take me via this route so was looking to price up the cost of supported training as well.
Any support or advice would be much appreciated to keep the costs as low as possible.
Many thanks
Sharks
I took up the Prince 2 Foundation and Practitioner course provided by Simpliearn. The course cost me £ 999 for self-paced learning which is inclusive of the exam fee cost as well, I could book the exam through simplilearn itself. The exam voucher cost is a part of the course price, so I felt it's great for the price that I've paid. The training was really good, the practice simulation tests, tips and tricks videos proved damn beneficial. In terms of cost, they offer discounts often, like now they have a 40% discount. So for the quality and quantity provided felt its really worth it.
They also provide free practice exams which contain the latest test questions, answering which I felt really comfortable to face the actual exam as these tests create the real test environment. I could assess my level of preparedness and brush up accordingly to get good results in the exam.0 -
FYI - currently doing Prince2 Foundation - started on Sunday, hope to sit exam Wednesday/Thursday.
Booked the official exams and courses via Balance-Global for peanuts. Their lectures are solid, clear, and I would easily recommend.0 -

I was also looking at their course on Groupon but it said something about having a laptop with a webcam and that it was a people cert requirement. Any idea what they need the webcam for???Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.
