Obviously my cd player doesn't want to play these wma files.... what format do the files have to be for cd players to play them? And can someone please recommend some software (that's free of course!) that will convert these wma's into the appropriate format?
Thanks in advance

Some CD players will play wma files but you need to set your software to audio CD for it to definitely play. This setting should limit you to playing a maximum ~78 minutes of audio like normal music CDs."Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

also make sure you finalised the CD and didn't just leave it open so you can add more to it.0
