Time to get back in to this I think. I've been keeping track of our spending over the first 3 months of the year and it's been slowly creeping ever upwards. All the extra snacks purchased at work for an afternoon sugar rush haven't helped the situation either. I'll go with £180 for April.

And I'm off, with a whopping £78.40 spent on household groceries today. (I'm very carefully not mentioning the Entertainments budget this month; never mind Easter, we have the Marathon & DS1's 30th birthday, so there are some serious celebrations forthcoming, and this will be coming out of savings, not everyday running money.)

Anyway, the £78.40 - this was a general tins, packets, butter, halloumi & cleaning stuff stock-up, but also includes things like £5 for a carrier bag of plaice from our allotment neighbour, who has a boat & is just starting the season's fishing; he has about 10 customers on the allotment site & you can see why! 8 beautiful fresh fish are now residing in our freezer, which will do two meals for OH, myself & the two pescatarian girls once DS3 has trotted off back to uni. (he can't even bear the smell of fish.) There'll be a carrier bag of wild garlic tomorrow, too, from a friend with a tiny woodland at the bottom of her garden; we're very spoilt here!

Please put me down for £200 this month, it's a yucky 5 week month and I have a houseful over the Easter weekend. Thanks

First spend of £75 so total so far is £75/£200
  • Good morning everyone
I hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend. It is freezing here.
I am just ready to put ingredients for lentil soup into soup maker. Was out this morning to deliver Easter gifts but didn't buy anything. Was determined to use what I had in the house to feed myself for the next couple of days but might buy something nice for Easter Sunday

A small spend today and have now declared for March with cash left in my purse! :j

I've done a meal plan for the coming week and everything is coming from what we already have in store, so a good start for April. :)

Sat - Seafood platter, brown B&B
Sun - HM Shepherd's pie, braised red cabbage
Mon - Beef sausages, mash, cabbage, carrots
Tue - BBQ pork steaks, chips, peas or edamame beans
Wed - Chicken in sauce, cauliflower, mash
Thur - Egg, chips & beans
Fri - Chippy battered fish, hm mushy peas

Over the weekend I'll be taking stock of what I have left and will do an online delivery order to come mid-week. I have a £4.50 moc and an £8 refund voucher to set against the cost, so shouldn't be spending too much. :D

The weather forecast over Easter isn't looking good and, as we're not planning on going anywhere, I can see batch cooking, baking and soup making on the horizon! At least I'll be warm in the kitchen. ;)
Be kind to others and to yourself too.
