My opinion is they should at least explain why they've declined an application so at least i may be able to rectify the problem, but it is my opinion and i am entitled to it and i am not trying to force it on anyone else.
But as I've previously explained, the answer would effectively be because they don't want you as a customer. They can't really say anymore because it is the result of a synthesis of all the data.0 -
Well, at last got accepted by HSBC. Paid me the £150 within three weeks, so I've left them again within a month. Took a long while but at last satisfied to have competed the set. I'd have stayed with them but they kept turning me down so felt obliged to get my "revenge".0

TBH, that sounds like petulance:cool:.
Not interested in their 5% regular saver?0 -

I often hear people approving of this account. Given the requirements for regular credits and the a ceiling on the amount which can be deposited each month, what is this account really worth - assuming you took full advantage of it? What I'm getting at is could you better it by opening a Barclays account with double Blue Rewards or the £5.50 a month I get from the Co-operative bank as as Everyday Reward? Not interested in their 5% regular saver? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It is worth 5% AER, which is several times more than the same amount of money can earn in other places.I often hear people approving of this account. You can use the MSE regular savings calculator to play about with various sums of money.0 -

Thanks for that. I've just used the calculator to work out by saving £300 a month in a 5% linked savings account I could make £96 interest in that first year. Barclays Blue Rewards would give me £120 without having to do anything other than running the account, the Co-operative Bank would earn me £66.You can use the MSE regular savings calculator to play about with various sums of money. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I think you're missing the point.
It is not a question of either HSBC & the 5% regular saver (others are available) or Barclays with Double Blue Rewards or Co-operative with Everyday Rewards.
Although personally I don't have the Barclays account as I'm trying to simplify my finances.0 -

Ahh, I see where you're coming from. I'm not interested in having several current accounts just to gather incentives - I do have three current accounts, apart from my main account, but they just sit there to be used in an emergency. I'm happy to earn rewards on the account I use day to day which might explain my comment.I think you're missing the point.
