Need estimate of car value for insurance purposes
Options
My car insurance is coming up for renewal and I would like to obtain an estimate of the value of my car for insurance purposes.
I have tried a few car valuation Web sites but each one that I have tried so far either requires me to register or at least to provide my email address. I’m not keen to do this because I don’t want a lot of SPAM emails asking me whether I want to sell my car, and so on.
Does anyone know a Web site that will provide an immediate valuation online? Can anyone recommend a Web site that, if I were to provide an email address, I am unlikely to get a lot of SPAM emails or encounter any other undesirable repercussions?
Yes, I know that I could always go along to my friendly dealership where I have my car serviced and ask one of the sales execs to consult Glass’s online guide. And, yes, I also know that I could go along to my local newsagent and inspect a copy of the latest Parkers Car Price Guide without buying it. I was just wondering whether I could obtain the information I require without making a special journey.

It's not really that important is it? It's not as if the insurance company will pay out what you tell them it's worth if you lose it. I'd just look at what they're going for.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Try Autotrader for similar cars.0

+1 for just having a look on Autotrader. The estimate you provide is unlikely to make a difference to your quote, if you end up claiming the insurers will come up with their own figure for your cars value anyway.0

Some insurance companies will tell you the value when you enter car details.Mortgage free

I've use WBAC.com, with a throw away email, a few times and have never have any spam from them.0

Unless it's something very unusual, just have a look for similar on Autotrader.
The insurer will almost certainly pay out what they determine to be the market value in the event of a claim - so just a rough ball park is perfectly adequate.0 -
If you did provide your email address, it is the law that they provide an Unsubscribe link in their emails.
So you could unsubscribe as soon as they've given you the information you need. And you won't receive any more emails.
Spam technically is unsolicited emails; emails from people you never gave your email address to, or unsubbed from.
But yes, marketing emails can be just as annoying as spam if the companies abuse the privilege.Look at it this way... In a hundred years who's gonna care?0 -
Unless it is a specialist "agreed value policy" when they ask you how much your car is worth it means nothing in the event of a claim. I am never sure why it is one of the questions they ask.
They will just pay out on CAP current value.0 -
As stated unless it's an agreed value policy then it's irrelevant. The insurance company will pay the least they think they can.0

Just put in the amount you paid for the car0
