Hi everyone, I basically had a letter from customer compliance yesterday stating I need to come in for an interview on the 26th march and bring ID and a bank statement. So this morning I rang them to see whats up. They asked me if I had 48 grand in savings in my natwest bank and a morgage!!? I am on esa support and pip enhanced care with -£1000 pound into my overdraft and 0 savings. And have never had more than a few grand in my bank .They decided to conduct the interview over the phone and they asked if I have these savings or anything over £6000 pound or a morgage , I said no most definately not and offered to send in bank statements. He said as far as they are concerned the matter is over and I dont have to attend the interview. He said they get glitches sometimes on the computers and that a person of the same name who has these assets have maybe been flagged up as yours! Unbelievable really but Im glad its dealt with. Just a heads up for anyone worrying about an interview, maybe give them a ring and it could be dealt with quickly over the phone.
Anyone else hear of this happening?

Sounds like a malicious complaint has maybe been made against you. Especially if they come out with such figure, And im surprised they did.0 -
The fact that they had the figure and the bank suggests that it was a GMS match which is now resolved0

Not necessarily a complaint, malicious or otherwise. Data matching isn't a perfect science and it could have thrown up a very near but not perfect match. If that happens they do need to investigate further. There'd be no point in do the data match if they didn't follow up on anomolies.
Somewhat different I accept, but I discovered there were at least 2 people with the same first name and middle initial as myself living within half a mile of me. That came about when I kept getting calls about the Royal British Legion and discovered the branch secretary had the same name as me :-). I already knew about another one because I worked with his wife!
Data matching of sorts and coming up with the wrong answer.0 -

I just can’t beleive that such a !!!! up could happen. ESP with name , address and bank and national insurance number. Just crazy. He said it was a glitch and didn’t want me to come in for the interview or provide bank statements and just took my word for it over the phone! This leads me to think this phenomenon is quite a regular occurrence of late.0 -

If you ever look at the records of births at St Catherine's House you will find that for some common names there will be hundreds of births registered in just a year.
Multiply that by 2 or 3 years. Limit by middle names, then as adults, where they live, bank accounts etc. but you will still be left with many, many people with similar information never mind taking into account inevitable mistakes.
At the other end of the scale I am now in my 60s and I have never met anyone (other than my near relatives) with the same surname as I was born with even though it is just an English place name.
I grew up naively assuming everybody had a different name!0
