Hi there
Is there a portable dvd player that you can plug in a usb and play movie files like you would on a lap top ?
I lug my lap top on business trips just to watch saved shows.
I don't want to have to burn them to DVD, it takes too long.

im not sure what you mean?
you would have the laptop with you and want an external dvd drive? or you want to play them from a hard drive?0 -
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0

I too am confused. Do you mean that you no longer want to take your laptop on business trips?
Maybe you can re-read and re-write.

Buy a DVD recorder to record your TV shows onto a DVD and a portable DVD player to play them. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

Thanks Bex Tex. this looks like it may be the soloution.
Sorry if I was unclear, I want to no longer take my laptop with me on trips. I don't want to burn DVDs and some shows are downloaded not recorded from the TV.
I want to plug in an external memory source via usb and watch a saved movie or TV show like I do on my lap top at the moment using VLC player but on a portable dvd player.

How about one of these?
It's not a DVD player, but it's got a 7" screen and USB input (and TV tuner!) http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=220920&C=Maplin&U=SpecialOffers&T=A12HF
But I think this might be more what you're looking for:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=217719&C=Maplin&U=SearchTop&T=PORTABLE%20DVD&doy=22m10
DVD player, 7" screen, plays DivX, has USB and SD card input.
Personally I prefer my Ipod Classic - not a huge screen but good enough for the train / plane. 80gb hard disk, 4hrs of video battery life and fits in my pocket0 -
Exactly what I wanted, many thanks xxxdxxxxxxdxxx
