Contesting Speeding Fine/Revokation of Licence

I dont think you got a chance unless you can show you be unemployed due to no driving etc then you might just but i doubt get away with it.
That might be relevant if he was facing a totting up ban, but this is something different. Revocation is an administrative process that happens to anyone getting 6 points in the first 2 years ....hardship, or making arguments for leniency doesn't come into it. If he gets the 3 points, his licence will be revoked.0 -

Yes Tony has it right.
This is not an "Exceptional Hardship" plea. He has no right to make such an argument. If this goes to court the Bench has two choices - three points or a short ban. He can ask for a short ban but since that request is being made solely to circumvent the New Drivers' Regulations it is vanishingly unlikely that his application will be accepted.0 -
The cost of your insurance after a ban, even a short term one, may exclude you from going back on the road anyway. Wouldn't like to be getting your quotes. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Hi,
I am looking for some potential advice on my current sticky situation I am in. I am 24 Years Old.
I have obtained my second speeding fine, this time by a speed gun on the motorway (I was caught doing 90mph in a 70mph zone). I hold my hands up and admit I have made a mistake and I am wrong and I have 100% learnt my lesson.
Now as I have only been driving 16 months, I have later found out obtaining 6 points (which I will be getting in due course) will mean my license will be taken from me.
Now does anyone think I have a case to fight against the revokation of my license. See below.
I have suffered with quite severe depression and anxiety for a couple years ago now, that has left my in a very dark place for some time. My dad died 10 months ago and this led to my depression and anxiety getting extremely extremely bad, and was having a negative impact on my job - I was going nowhere. I took the plunge as it got so bad to go to the doctor and offloaded and was prescribed anti depressants (this was quite a big deal for me). I have really felt in the last couple months or go I have got back to a place where I really want to be, and from this, it has lead to me obtaining quite a good job whereby I NEED my car to do my job otherwise it may lead to me losing my job - and therefore I am worried it may lead to a negative impact on my mental health.
Does anyone think I have a case to fight against them not revoking my license / maybe impsoing a short ban instead whereby I can take annual leave from my job?
Any advice would be hugely appreciated on what route I should go down... whether I even have a case or not etc... I can prvoide proof to anyone from my doctor re my mental health
Nothing about your situation excuses your speeding. Everyone has problems in their life, but most of them manage to keep an eye on their speedo.
You say you've been caught twice and have now learnt your lesson, but I suspect you haven't, as being caught the first time didn't stop you speeding again.
I hope your licence is taken away. It'll be an appropriate punishment for doing 90mph and make you realise that not having a car can be a real pain, which hopefully you'll remember next time you think about driving so fast.
I like hearing stories like this. When I get overtaken by someone doing 50 in a 30, or see someone belting up the motorway at 100mph, I imagine that one day, they're going to get caught and it's going to cost them - financially and maybe their job. And I have no sympathy.0 -
As a fellow anxiety sufferer, I would have thought anxiety would encourage you to drive at a slower speed (where you feel you have more control), and NOT at higher speeds, where the car controls you.0

"My car has a speed limiter which I use."
So has mine, it appears to be my right foot used in conjunction with my eyes sending a message to my brain, after occasionally glancing at the speedometer. "Problem solved".0 -
Just wondered how long do they revoke your licence for is there nothing stopping you booking a test now before you get a letter throu your door ..............prob is some red tape to stop you getting banned on a friday back on the road on the following monday.0

You can book your theory test as soon as you have the provisional (but not before). You can book the practical test when (or if) you pass the theory.
If you're flexible with dates and test centres, and with a bit of luck, you could do all of that in a month, but two would be more realistic.0 -

The OP will first have to wait for the DVLA to cancel the license after they reach six points, this doesn't happen straight away although the OP can still drive until this happens. Once that has happened they can immediately proceed to booking their theory test then book their practical test. That means there will be some delays in trying to get through the process quickly and may take longer if the OP is in a busy area that will take more to book their driving test.
It may still be possible to get on the road reasonably quickly though and something the OP may need to consider.
