My mate got a final bill from EDF recently yet hasn't been with them for about 10 months now. Infact since changing from them he has changed again.
Is he obliged to pay it or can he get out of it somehow?

Does he owe the money?
If he does he needs to pay it.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
if the bill is for energy used then i'd say it's a legitamite bill. I presume your friend didn't recieve a final bill when he originally switched from edf, he should have got onto edf to ask for it.
During the switching process the new supplier will ask for an opening meter reading. THis is then validated by an independent source and a copy of edf's closing reading will be sent to them. They may not have recieved it until recently. Of course they should have chased this reading and noticed that the account had not been shut down properly.
However, you're likely to find that they'll still chase the money.0 -
Yes, afraid so.
There is an exception if he was never billed at all e.g. he was with EDF a short time. This would mean they couldn't bill further back than a year if they sent the bill post July 07. If not, he's got to pay - it's just a late bill.
The CoS process can be a lengthly one because if they have data quality issues with the Agents that agree the CoS reading, they have to fix the data issues first. It's not uncommon to wait over a year for reading in some circumstances but most are achieved with 2 months.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Cheers guys. I told him he'd have to pay up.0
