Kitchen extension that 1.5m above ground level

Options
Hi,

My wife and I are starting to look at ways of improving our house and one of the main things is the kitchen. Its an old Victorian house which has good size rooms apart from the kitchen. We have 6 kids between us and so feeding time takes up a decent amount of space.

Currently the kitchen is 2.5m by 3m. We are looking to extend backwards but also to the side slightly as well between 2 parts of the house where there is a gap that leads to an unused doorway.
Anyway I was wondering what the options are when it comes to building in line with current floor level inside? as outside rolls away a bit. The current kitchen floor is around 1m - 1.5m above the ground outside where we would build.

Will most likely look at a modern glass style extension. Is it just a case of more bricks and mortar or are there other stilt like options?

Thanks for any help
