Right I thought I had better jump straight back in, I have been away for over a year now
during which time I have separated and got divorced, I asked the ex to leave after he admitted having an affair, this threw me completely off track and I have wallowed in self pity for too long....I need to motivate myself again and without his wages things are pretty tight again, I will not let this put me off though.
I have found out how strong I am as a person and I am finally standing on my own two feet for the first time in over 25 years.....I am financially independant now so I have to do this by myself and I am looking at it as a challenge so that when I become debt free I will know it is because I have taken the time to do it all by myself and not rely on him.
I am on a DMP with CCCS who I have to admit have been wonderful and have just had my two year review, I increased my payment to them from £119 PCM to £282 PCM so things are going to be tighter than normal, but it has brought my DFD closer, it was sitting at 14 years  and now with the increased payment I should be debt free in 5 years :T I just hope I can stick to the new plan, please wish me well and I will pop back more regularly now.Been here for a long time and don't often post

Thanks very much, I used to post quite a bit and it was a great help to keep me on track, so I am looking forward to rejoining the site and taking part again. I need to pay more attention to what I am doing as I can so easily slip back into old habits.Been here for a long time and don't often post

Morning all,
Hi Heffi - well done for 'getting back on the debt busting horse' so to speak. It really is easy to slip away from it and ignore the situation. Sounds like you're a very strong person though and I'm sure you'll be able to stick with the new plan.
Mumto2Monkeys - Try not to beat yourself up, December is hard for everyone, its amazing how easy it is for food bills to go over, good luck with the batch cooking. We don't have a freezer, but still do mini batch cooking. Today is day 4 of bean chilli...
ISOM - This year seems particularly bad for adverts, or maybe I'm just more tuned in now! Every single one is telling us we'll have a terrible Christmas unless we buy their product. Its such rubbish. I'm actually really excited to be making gifts, I feel like I'm giving a lot more to someone as its been thought out and taken time (of which I have very little!). I've taken to putting the tv on mute during Ad breaks, no I don't want your frozen mini toad in the hole!!! Well, maybe... :rotfl:0 -
haha at rambling if i can itape programmes so i can just fast forward through the trashy adverts lol
it saves much heartache :Dxx

Thanks everyone, it is the reason I came back on here as I know we all have our own personal struggles, but everyone is so good at supporting each other, I am so chuffed to be thinking straight again after what has been an awful year, now onto more important things, get that debt paid and NEVER go back.....one of the lessons I learned the hard way is do not give anyone the power to control your money again! I have made lots of mistakes and I am sure I will make more in the future, but I have learned something each and everytime with them.
And to end on a positive note, I have found someone who is caring and kind and who likes me for who I am today not for what they want me to be tomorrow - that is such a breath of fresh air and I am enjoying myself again for the first time in too many years - yay to me! :-)Been here for a long time and don't often post

Good for you Heffi 1! Well did some Xmas shopping yesterday & we ended up spending £100 on debit card, as we were going to try & get through Xmas without using the CC. We will have to use CC as we only have £18 left to last us til Friday & already worked out that next weeks DD's will take up all my wages! That said we have food in to last us a couple of weeks & get Xmas bonus a week on Friday! Good luck all & keep chipping away!DEBT AT LBM(1/7/07)-£35,052.19 DEBT (31/08/10) Average amount paid off P.M. £67.96 Paid off so far £2582.68(7.3%) Target to pay off in 2010 £2,340.14/£3,600 LH Supporter(165) DFD September 2110:eek:0

TEK that is good news, as long as you are careful with the amount you spend on the CC you should be ok, and having the bonus to look forward to is a great incentive to go careful, I wish you luck - I have told everyone this year that there will be a token present and no more - when I think of the money I wasted over the years on gifts that were not really needed or wanted. Anyway I have to rush out of the door so catch up later.
Good luck everyone xx
