I bought one of these a few weeks ago and I am having trouble redeeming it in store, keep being told I need to get the app on my phone. I printed the voucher out and can't see what I am doing wrong.
I had no problem to redeem it at all.
Groupon voucher process is less clear. I hope you printed the right one: if you click the link on the top-right corner of your "Groupon voucher", you will have another voucher opened which has Tesco (and its logo) all over it. It has a barcode, a long number and pin. That's the one to use.

Yes I have printed the right one, the cashier said she didn't know how to do it and that I would have to go to customer services, which I will be doing when I go next.

I also had this problem a few weeks ago as I had taken what I thought was the voucher. I had printed off what Groupon had sent. The cashier, her supervisor and Customer Services couldn't get it to work. I contacted Groupon on the Chat facility and the first person was useless then she cut me off when I was still typing another reply to her! I contacted them again and the man who was chatting this time told me to look at the top right hand corner of the page I printed and there would be an http: etc address. I copied that and pasted it into the address bar and it immediately brought up the page that I should have printed which had the bar code on it. That time it worked no problem in Tesco because they did have something to scan this time. Groupon should give clearer instructions. I hope this helps.

Thank you ailey. I had done it the way you describe, went to customer services this afternoon and used it no problem.
That was great. Thought I'd put my explanation on because the same thing happened to me. Groupon should be more clear on how to use their Tesco vouchers but at least we know for the next time. Glad I was able to help.

printed off the correct voucher with the bar code, card number and pin, tried to use it in Tesco and when it was scanned the lady said there was nothing on it, told me she had had a few like this, all the same?
been trying to get this resolved by Groupon chat for over 2 weeks now, either they cut me off or tell me they'll pass it on and someone will contact me....still waiting
I have just found this thread and thought to add to it as I would like to know if others have been affected by this promotion which was run again in 2019. Looking at the old posts from 2018 I see some bought a £10 Tesco Voucher from Groupon for £5 in good faith, yet when then they tried to redeem the voucher, there was a problem! Clearly this was an issue in 2018 and it has happened again.

The same Groupon Promotion was run again in October 2019 and it would appear 25,000 £10 Tesco Vouchers were sold and when we tried to use it earlier this month, there was no balance, someone else had used the same voucher code in a Tesco store that we have never been to. Clearly Groupon has been sending out Vouchers with duplicate codes. Neither Tesco or Groupon are being helpful and each company directs me to the other company!!
Groupon refused to refund the £5 or honour the £10 voucher claiming 25,000 £10 Tesco Vouchers with codes were purchased and each voucher was sent to each person who purchased the promotional Voucher for £5. When I put it to them that by sending out vouchers with duplicate codes with the implication that this could have been deliberately or innocently done, Groupon have now agreed a £5 credit on the account. However this is not good enough because we want a full refund; so we have initiated a charge back via VISA.

Interestingly when we contacted Tesco, they were aware that others had purchased £10 vouchers from Groupon and have the same problem and asked that they confirm this statement so as to support our charge back claim. Sadly and inexplicably, Tesco seem unwilling to confirm this in writing.
