Possible problem with removed chimney breast

Whilst lying in bed last night I looked up and noticed a thin crack on the ceiling. I'm sure I haven't noticed it before and it was right where the chimney breast would have been (I popped up into the loft to check if it corresponded)to the same point along the wall). The chimney breast was removed upstairs and down about 10 years ago before I bought the house. I am just left with the upside down 'V' part in the loft. There's also a hairline crack going down the wall (although the coving doesn't appear to have a crack).
Is this just 'natural' movement or something?
Who do I call first? Will a builder be able to advise me or should I get hold of some kind of structural engineer? I'm starting to panic now....

It's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :j

I would pay a RICS surveyor for a full structural survey. If the survey throws up any remedial work that needs doing, then Is the time to start getting quotes from builders.
Is the survey throws up nothing of concern then at at lease the expense of doing it will help you sleep at night.0 -
If the work was done without the help of a structural engineer, then you need one to check it now.
Not a builder, a properly qualified engineer.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -

If the breast is supported by brackets that are hidden, he will want to see them. So may involve removing surface plaster, taking up floorboards or whateverChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
