Boomerang vs Miles & More air miles loyalty scheme

Options
I've done a search for air miles but can't find a specific forum or sub-forum for the topic.

I'm about to register an a/c with a European budget airline. I'm being given a choice of loyalty points, so it's:

Boomerang

vs

Miles & More

I'd be grateful for some advice as to which is better.
Or if the is already a forum, please point me in the right direction.

I guess the question is which program you use most, what would the flight 'earn' with each program and what is the 'value'
If you are a member of neither then, unless you are going to be flying a few times with the airline/group you will have some points that you may not be enough to do anything with

Miles & More is the Lufthansa loyalty program, and you could earn/redeem points in future with them or any Star Alliance airline plus several hotel chains etc, so plenty of potential.

Boomerang I have never heard of...
    Evolution, not revolution

The budget airline I referred to is Eurowings, which is the budget sister airline/subsidiary of Lufthansa.

I take cheap shorthaul flights to European cities, so I'm inclined to opt for Miles & More.

As Caz said, unless you earn enough miles to use before they expire it doesn't really matter what scheme you join. I am in Miles&More but only ever had one return flight out of it after I took a business class return flight to SE Asia.

I only average 4 return flights per year, UK-Germany.

Do the accummlated miles expire after a year?

I've never been in an air miles scheme. I guess I won't qualify for a free flight.

The BIG problem with Miles and more is the stupidly high Taxes that are charged for your "free" flight departing UK.

They are also very hard to earn if you do not fly that much and they have just changed how miles are earned.

Yes they do expire after 3 years.

Look at Headforpoints or Flyertalk for more info

    Thanks to all.

I have just booked a flight and they have auto-enrolled me on the Boomerang miles scheme, with no way to amend it. So it seems that customers have no choice after all. Maybe the other scheme is for longhaul flights....

Based on what's on this forum, in terms of money-saving, then air miles ain't all that!:(

I'm better off spending some time playing around with flight days/times to save some money. ;)

I noticed that Eurowings doesn't seem to offer Sunday flights on the routes I want. I guess Sundays are peak and you fly Lufthansa instead of Eurowings if you want it.

You can be a member of several FF schemes and if necessary add your FF number to a flight to get the miles into that scheme.

Collecting - and more importantly -using Frequent flyer miles is a black art and not for the faint hearted ;)
