Paying twice for one car accident is that right

I have just gone through the process of renewing my car insurance. Information came up that I had two accidents on my record but they are my husbands accidents. He has declared them on his current insurance and will be paying more for that but I'm also being told I have to put them on my insurance too as I was the policy holder for the insurance at the time. How can it be right that we have to both declare them on our separate policy's. I wasn't involved in the accidents at all

I'll hazard a guess that he's a named driver on your policy which would make it absolutely a material fact to disclose to your insurance company.0

Yes he was back in 2016 but it didnt seem to be on my record last year but is this year and has nearly doubled my renewal quote. Sorry could you explain what you mean by material fact are you meaning not necessary or necessary thanks0

Material fact, meaning that it is an important fact for your own insurance.
The reason being that an insurance policy and its price is a measure of risk, and statistically your insurance policy is riskier by having a named driver who has a history of accidents.
Might not seem fair but just the way the statistics/risk works.0
