    Is the CCJ secured against the bank account? If not then AFAIK reasonable funeral cost take priority. It will be hard to justify more than £2,500 at the most. You need to check with the credit union and perhaps get urgent advice from the CAB

    It is possible that the creditor has obtained a 3rd party dept order that means the account was frozen before he died. Not sure what the status of that order is if the debtor dies though.
